Stratux with panel avionics

Short answer: Stratux feeds your tablet, not a certified panel navigator. It runs alongside panel avionics rather than plugging into them.

Certified navigators (GNS, GTN, Avidyne)

Certified panel units such as the Garmin GNS 430/530, GTN 650/750 and Avidyne IFD series take traffic and weather only from certified, installed equipment. There's no setting, cable or adapter that sends Stratux data to them.

The usual setup is both side by side: the panel navigator for certified IFR navigation, and Stratux plus a tablet for ADS-B traffic, FIS-B weather and a backup attitude display. They don't interfere with each other.

Experimental and EFIS displays

Many experimental and LSA EFIS displays accept GDL90 or FLARM NMEA over a serial connection. Stratux can provide that with a USB serial adapter (such as a CP2102). GRT EFIS displays are known to work with current firmware; for other brands, check your EFIS documentation for "GDL90 serial input." See the app and display list.

Wiring anything into an aircraft is a maintenance question; talk to your A&P or IA.

If your panel already has ADS-B In

If the aircraft already has installed ADS-B In (for example a Garmin GTX 345 or GDL 88 shown on the panel), Stratux is mostly redundant for traffic. Some pilots still use it for weather on a larger, movable tablet screen, or as a backup attitude display.
