Stratux in Europe (FLARM and OGN)
Stratux works well outside North America, but what it can receive depends on where you fly.
What works where
| United States | Canada | Europe and elsewhere | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1090ES traffic | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| 978 MHz UAT traffic | ✓ | ✓ (via CIFIB) | No UAT network |
| FIS-B weather | ✓ | ✓ (via CIFIB) | No |
| FLARM / OGN (868 MHz) | Not used | Not used | ✓ with an 868 MHz radio |
| GPS and AHRS | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
978 MHz UAT and FIS-B weather only exist in the United States and, through the volunteer-run CIFIB network, Canada. 1090ES traffic works everywhere.
One image, choose your region
Since v2.0, Stratux is a single image for all regions. After it boots, set your region in the web interface's Settings page. The older separate Europe Edition (v1.6r1-eu) is no longer developed; new installs should use the latest image from the Download page.
FLARM and OGN
Stratux can receive FLARM-compatible and Open Glider Network (OGN) traffic on 868 MHz, which matters in European gliding and GA. This needs a separate 868 MHz radio: the 978 MHz UAT radio can't receive FLARM or OGN.
- Full DIY kits with FLARM for Europe are on the parts page.
- Stratux outputs FLARM-NMEA on TCP port 2000 for apps such as SkyDemon, as well as GDL90.
- See the community wiki's Building Stratux and supported hardware pages for 868 MHz options.
