FLIGHT PATH
A free daily aviation word search. Think Strands, but for pilots.
How to play
Each day brings a new 6 by 8 grid of letters and a cryptic theme clue, such as "Radio spelling, S to Z". Drag or tap through touching letters, including diagonals, to spell the words that fit the theme. Every letter belongs to exactly one answer, so the grid is solved only when no letter is left over.
- Theme words turn aviation blue.
- The spangram reaches from one side of the board to the opposite side, names the theme, and turns amber.
- Real words of four letters or more that are not on the theme list charge your hint meter. Three of them earn a hint that lights up an unfound word.
Share your result as a row of emoji with no spoilers, and come back at local midnight for the next puzzle. If you like a strands aviation challenge, this is your daily one.
Why pilots like it
Themes come straight from the hangar and the cockpit: cloud types, phonetic alphabet words, Cessna and Piper model names, parts of a wing, traffic pattern legs, airspace classes and more. It is a painless way to keep the vocabulary of aviation fresh, and the aviation word search daily habit pairs well with a morning weather briefing. Many answers are the same terms you meet on a checkride oral, and some come from the tools you fly with, like the ADS-B traffic and weather a Stratux receiver brings into the cockpit.
FAQ
How do I play FLIGHT PATH?
Drag or tap through touching letters to spell words that fit the theme clue. Every letter belongs to exactly one answer, and the spangram stretches from one side of the grid to the opposite side.
What is a spangram?
It is the special theme word that touches two opposite edges of the grid and describes the theme. It turns amber when you find it.
How do hints work?
Find three valid words of four or more letters that are not theme words and you earn one hint. A hint highlights the letters of one unfound theme word.
Is there a new puzzle every day?
Yes. A new puzzle unlocks at local midnight, and past puzzles can be replayed in practice mode without touching your streak.
