AIRCRAFTLE
The daily aircraft guessing game, an aviation wordle for pilots and plane nerds.
How to play
A mystery aircraft is picked every day, the same for everyone. Type any aircraft from the list and submit it. Seven tiles compare your guess with the answer: maker, type, number of engines, first flight year, wingspan (rotor diameter for helicopters), seats, and role. Green means a match, yellow means close, and arrows tell you whether the answer is higher or lower. You have seven guesses, and the top-down silhouette gets sharper with each one.
When you finish you get a spoiler-free emoji grid to share, a fun fact about the aircraft, and your streak. Afterwards you can keep playing unlimited practice rounds.
Why pilots like it
Telling a Cessna 172 from a Cessna 182 at a glance is a pilot skill, and so is knowing that a King Air 350 has two turboprops and a T-tail. Wingspan and first-flight year are classic trivia: the Wright Flyer spanned about 40 feet, a Boeing 747-400 spans about 211, and the Douglas DC-3 first flew in 1935 and is still working. Aircraft recognition is also a safety skill for anyone watching traffic on a screen. Run a Stratux receiver and you will see callsigns, altitudes and speeds on your EFB, so recognizing what is out there makes the picture more useful.
FAQ
How often is there a new aircraft?
Once a day at your local midnight. The order is shuffled, so there is no pattern to guess.
What does the silhouette show?
It is drawn from the plane's wing sweep, engine count, tail type and length. It begins blocky and sharpens as you guess.
Which aircraft are included?
About 150 well-known aircraft, from the Piper Cub and Cessna 172 to the Airbus A380, plus warbirds, helicopters, gliders, homebuilts and jets.
Is it free?
Yes. No sign-up, no ads. Your stats are stored only in your browser.
