Center Wars

Twenty centers, three rivals and one very busy sector. Free in your browser.

How to play

You lead the orange Stratux Pilots. Each turn has three phases, and the numbers on the map are your receivers. Hold 15 of the 20 centers (Quick) or all 20 (Full) before a rival does.

Why pilots like it

The United States is divided among 20 en route centers, from Boston to Seattle. Each one hands aircraft to the next as they cross invisible boundaries, and controllers coordinate every handoff. If you have ever flown IFR and heard "contact Memphis Center on 133.4", you have been passed along this chain.

Center Wars lets you play the other side of the map. It takes about fifteen minutes a game, and the weather rule makes you think like a dispatcher who has to route around a closed sector.

FAQ

What is an ARTCC?

An Air Route Traffic Control Center, often called a Center. The contiguous United States is covered by 20 of them, and they handle aircraft on instrument flight plans between airports and terminal areas.

How does combat work in Center Wars?

The attacker rolls up to three dice and the defender up to two. The highest dice are compared and ties go to the defender. Capture a center and choose how many receivers move in.

What do the cards do?

You earn cards for capturing centers. NOTAM adds +1 defense, SIGMET freezes an enemy center, FIS-B UPLINK gives +5 receivers and TIS-B shows rival targets.

What is the Daily Challenge?

Everyone gets the same map, dice and rival moves for the day, with unlimited tries. Your best score goes on the daily board.
